2006 Tour de Soulard
St. Louis

On Sunday, July 16 the 19th Annual Tour de Soulard took place in St. Louis.  This popular race is held in conjunction with their Bastille Day celebration.  The Soulard neighborhood is a cool historic French district just a mile from downtown.  This one day criterium attracts a great crowd as families throughout the race course come out and party along the route.  The course is one mile long with eleven turns, and in each corner you have people cheering on the riders.  Great atmosphere and one I highly recommend attending.

A familiar view this year.

My new race bike decked out with wine corks.
It's got amazing flex!

If I hadn't done this.....

I would have faced this.  Whew!

Knackered look of the year.

Pro 1/2 field taking a fast turn.

Lead moto..uh...lead ATV speeding through.

I am having a hard time picking which to drool more over.

Parties like this were all around the 1 mile course.

During my cool down I rode right into Busch Stadium.
The Cardinals had just beaten the Dodgers.

100 degree heat and 40 minute
breakaway will bring the salt out of you.

One can't help but smile at the camel costume bike.

What trip would be complete without a coffee shop?
This place was on Geyer St between 9th and 10th Ave.
